Really Fucking Good Films Watched in '06, Part 2

The Top 6 Action Films I Watched In 2006
1. The Transporter (2002, Corey Yuen)

2. The Transporter 2 (2005, Louis Leterrier)
3. King Kong (2005, Peter Jackson)
4. 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003, John Singleton)
5. The Fast and the Furious (2001, Rob Cohen)

6. For Y'ur Height Only (1979, Eddie Nicart)

The Transporter 1 & 2 stars Adolf nominee Jason Statham, who is fucking incredible, and The Transporter has what is most likely the greatest fight scene of all time ever. King Kong won an Adolf Award last year, and you've probably heard of it already. The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious are about car racing, and they both star Paul Walker who I really like, though the best film from the series is actually Tokyo Drift which does not star Paul Walker (but does have a swayze cameo by Vin Diesel), and is nominated for an Adolf this year. For Y'ur Height Only is a James Bond movie, but instead of Sean Connery or whatever, it's a Filipino midget.

The Top 5 Comedies I Watched In 2006
1. Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990, Joe Dante)

2. Men At Work (1990, Emilio Estevez)
3. The Ringer (2005, Barry Blaustein)
4. 13 Moons (2002, Alexandre Rockwell)
5. Sleepover (2004, Joe Nussbaum)

Gremlins 2 is um, the sequel to Gremlins, and it's really incredible. Men At Work stars Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen as garbagemen, and it's pretty fucking retarded but also hilarious, and there's a picking up garbage montage that's kinda mind-blowing. The Ringer won an Adolf last year, and it's about the Special Olympics, and Katherine Heigl looks really pretty in it. 13 Moons stars Steve Buscemi and Peter Dinklage and some other people, and it's weird and good, and the director also made a movie called In the Soup which is slightly more heard-of, and another one called Somebody To Love which features Steve Buscemi in really fucking hot drag. Sleepover is about girls having an adventure.

The Top 2 Musicals I Watched In 2006
1. The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas (1982, Colin Higgins)

2. Moonwalker (1988, Jerry Kramer & Colin Chilvers)

The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas stars Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds, and it's about a whorehouse closing down. Moonwalker stars Michael Jackson, and I don't know what the fuck it's about, but it involves a rabbit and Joe Pesci selling drugs.

The Top 5 Audio Commentaries I Listened To In 2006
1. How's Your News? by director and cast
2. Female Trouble by John Waters
3. Arrested Development (various episodes) by Mitch Hurwitz and cast
4. Fast Times at Ridgemont High by Amy Heckerling and Cameron Crowe
5. Party Monster: The Shockumentary by James St. James

All of these are either informative or funny or both, and not boring like most commentaries. The worst one I listened to this year would probably be Black Shampoo by Greydon Clark.

The Top 13 Drama/Crime/Thriller/Western/Etc. Movies I Watched In 2006
1. Fear (1996, James Foley)

2. Heart of America (2003, Uwe Boll)
3. Sudden Impact (1983, Clint Eastwood)
4. Cronicas (2004, Sebastian Cordero)
5. Deadly Outlaw Rekka (2002, Takashi Miike)

6. Pastoral: To Die in the Country (1974, Shuji Terayama)
7. The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976, Clint Eastwood)
8. Secrets & Lies (1996, Mike Leigh)
9. Abigail's Party (1977, Mike Leigh)
10. The Squid and the Whale (2005, Noah Baumbach)

11. Shinjuku Triad Society (1995, Takashi Miike)
12. Two Mules for Sister Sara (1970, Don Siegel)
13. Dirty Harry (1971, Don Siegel)

Fear is a thriller starring Mark Wahlberg as Reese Witherspoon's obsessive, psychotic boyfriend, and it's probably the greatest thriller I've ever seen.
Heart of America is Uwe Boll's film about Columbine, and I thought about putting it on the comedy list, but I'm not sure it's supposed to be as hilarious as it is.
Sudden Impact is the fourth Dirty Harry movie and it's kinda like a remake of I Spit On Your Grave, and even though it's slightly less exploitative, it's actually more entertaining.
Cronicas is about John Leguizamo (in a serious role) trying to do a story on a child murderer, and it has a really good ending.
Deadly Outlaw Rekka pairs up my two favorite Japanese actors, Riki Takeuchi and Kenichi Endo, and it's fast-paced and a lot of fucking fun.
Pastoral: To Die in the Country is weird and arty and pretty to look at.
The Outlaw Josey Wales is a western with Clint Eastwood.
Secrets & Lies is about dreary suburban existence, kinda like almost every other movie Mike Leigh has ever made, but this one is probably the best, and it's actually kind of upbeat at the end.
Abigail's Party is about really fucking awkward people at a really fucking awkward party.
The Squid and the Whale is about a family, and it just came out last year and everybody loved it, and they were right to.
Shinjuku Triad Society is the first of Miike's Black Society Trilogy, and it's really violent and awesome.
Two Mules for Sister Sara is another Clint Eastwood western, and this time, he's traveling with a nun.
Dirty Harry is about a tough San Francisco cop.
